Sermon Notes September 30, 2012

Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? Matthew 13:55,56

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:19

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13,14

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Revelation 12:11

  1. The enemy will always use your past to make you think you are not good enough for your future.
  2. The enemy will use those closest to you to bring up your past. Friends and family.
  3. Always think on the vision and plan God gave you for the future, not on what happened in the past.
  4. You must embrace change and the newness you have in Christ.
  5. You can not walk in new life living your old life.
  6. Change your ways (repent) and do not apologize for who you have become.
  7. You owe nothing to anyone in your past but to love them. Romans 13:8
  8. The only reason to bring up the past is as a testimony to bring people into the body of Christ and to show how the power of Jesus Christ changed your life.
  9. Do not dwell in the past.

I pray this teaching will bless you. I pray that if your past is a problem that you meditate in these scriptures. Your past does not determine your future and it does not matter what the world says, it matters what God says. Do not be deceived by what you were, be encouraged by what God intends for you to be.

I love you, God bless You!
Apostle Judson Powell
